Campout - August 29

All Brookwood neighbors and friends are invited to our annual campout at the greens, Friday night, August 29. Games for the kids will start at 6 pm, and dinner will start at 7 pm. We will have hamburgers and hot dogs, and ask that you bring a side or dessert to share.

After dinner we will have some games for kids and adults, and then will have a double-feature on the Brookwood Jumbotron, with "Muppets Most Wanted" and "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" while we make s'mores and enjoy the night.

Breakfast will be served Saturday morning.

Even if you are not camping out, please come and join us for dinner and/or breakfast and a fun evening!

$5 per adult, $2 per child, with a maximum of $15 per family for dinner/breakfast.

Pancake breakfast - 6/29

The Brookwood trustees would like to invite each of you to our annual pancake breakfast, next Sunday, June 29, from 9 am until noon at the beach. We will have pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice and coffee. Most importantly, we hopefully will have each of you to share with us some good food, friendly conversation, and a beautiful summer morning!

Cost will be $6 per adult, $3 per child, with a maximum of $15 per household.

Dearest Brookwood neighbors,

Spring has finally arrived, and it is such a relief to feel some warm air and see our friends outside after such a long winter!

Thank you to all who attended our annual meeting, and thanks especially to Norma and Gary Shuskey for hosting. We express gratitude to Laurene Sweet and Mark Dickard who have stepped down after many years of service as trustees. Following election by the membership we are pleased to welcome Valerie Cirelly and Greg Fondran as new trustees. They will join Patty Abernathy, Matt D’Arcy, Chris Haas, Sean Ward, and myself as trustees. I am honored to continue to serve as president this year; Chris Haas will serve as vice president, Norma Shuskey will continue as secretary, and Beth D’Arcy will continue as treasurer.

Please be reminded that membership dues are due June 1, and we will be changing the locks for the beach this year. Please be reminded of our club rules, particularly regarding the use of our wonderful club property at the beach and the greens. We can all work together to continue to make this a wonderful and special place to live.

As we look forward to another wonderful summer, we hope you can help with and join us for this year’s social events. Some dates to save:

Friends and Neighbors of the Brookwood Club,

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful spring!  We are very excited that the weather has finally gotten milder, and we hope that this will continue in the months ahead!

Thanks to all who were able to attend the annual meeting earlier this month, and thanks again to Otis & Patty Abernathy for hosting.  We express our deep gratitude to Dave Lawrence and Clark Scheurman for their dedicated service as trustees, and to Diane Ramos for her tireless and diligent service as treasurer.  Thank you, Diane, Dave, and Clark!

Following election by the membership, we are pleased to announce that Matt D’Arcy, Chris Haas, and I will begin new terms as trustees.  Elections for officers are held each year by the trustees after the annual meeting, and I am honored to be able to continue to serve as president this year.  Laurene Sweet will continue as vice president.  We are also thrilled to announce that Beth D’Arcy will begin serving as our new treasurer and that Norma Shuskey will continue as secretary.

I also thank our other trustees, Patty Abernathy, Mark Dickard, and Sean Ward, for their hard work and commitment to the neighborhood.

Thank you also to all those who helped plan and who attended our various social events this past year.  It is always so enjoyable getting together!  This year we will continue with our social events coordinated by the various streets.  The trustees will be discussing this planning in our meeting on May 8, so please contact one of the trustees if you have specific requests or suggestions.

I especially wish to thank all of you for being such wonderful neighbors and friends, and for making this such a special place to live.  We look forward to another year full of fun and friendship!

2013 Annual Meeting

This evening all members of the Brookwood Club are encouraged to attend the 89th annual club membership meeting, at 7:00 pm at the home of Otis & Patty Abernathy.  Important club business, including the election of trustees, will be on the agenda.  We will also be joined by our city councilman, Jim O'Hare.  Light refreshments will be served.  We hope to see all of you there!
